Children’s Programs

Children and families are a vital part of the Friends Meeting of Washington community.  We offer child care services for nursery school aged children each Sunday during 10:30 worship.  On First and Third Sundays we also offer a First Day School for children ages four and up.

Nursery (infants - 4 years old) is in the Decatur Place Room (immediately to your right after entering the main Meeting House from Decatur Place).  Several wonderful and well-trained care givers staff the nursery.  Drop off beginning at 10:20 AM and pick up by Noon.

First Day School:
On the First Sunday of the month, the kids make sandwiches for the Grate Patrol which are distributed to our city's homeless. Kids can attend the first 15 minutes of worship with their parents, before following the teacher from worship to the Assembly Room at 10:45am. Parents are welcome to escort children to First Day School (and join activities) if they so choose.

—On the Third Sunday of the month, our First Day School explores Quaker spirituality in all of its facets, including simplicity, peacefulness, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship. Kids can attend the first 15 minutes of worship with their parents, before following the teacher from worship to the Living Room at 10:45am.

For more information on any of the above, please reach out to Emma Preston and Tom Yonker at Emmasagepreston@gmail.com and TYonker@gmail.com

All of our programs abide by our Child Safety Policy, most importantly that two adults with current background checks on file are in the classroom at all times during program hours.
