Visit to the African American Museum, January 22, 1:15 - All are welcome!
FMW’s Change Committee invites you to a group visit to the African American Museum to see a special exhibit about the role of religion in African American History. FMW Seeking Sunday Childcare Staff

BYM Faith & Practice Revision–Request for Feedback
Baltimore Yearly Meeting is requesting feedback on these two draft sections of the new Faith & Practice. FMW's Ministry and Worship Committee requests all FMW Committees to devote 30 minutes in December or January to discussing these revisions. Individual responses are also welcome.  Please email all feedback to this address, MinistryWorship@QuakersDC.org by February 1, which will give M&W time to compile our responses by BYM’s March 1 deadline. For over six months, FMW opened its doors to provide migrants just arriving on buses from Texas their first welcome..  The Migrant Solidarity Network has now arranged for permanent space nearer in Capitol Hill, nearer to the bus station.  Volunteers, donations and warm clothing is still needed.

Listening to the Heart of Genesis – A Contemplative Path with Rabbi Leila Gal Berner,
Friday mornings February 3 to March 3, 10 - 11:20 am on Zoom (registration required)

Basing her new Jewish practice on a Christian medieval lectio divina, Rabbi Leila Gal Berner has developed kriat hakodesh, reading the sacred, in which we listen to a biblical text in deep contemplation and then enter into silence, after having been asked personal questions which pertain to the text and our own lives.  The stories of Genesis come alive in new ways.  Cost $125.  Participants must commit to all five sessions. Interested in a “Deeper Dive” into Quaker thought and practice? This in-depth Book Study Group will read and discuss thought-provoking books on Quaker faith and practice. FMW member Joe Izzo and Diane Randall, former General Secretary of FCNL, will moderate.  First book: A Sustainable Life, Quaker Faith and Practice in the Renewal of Creation by Douglas Gwyn. Please purchase in advance and read the forward, preface, introduction and chapter 1 (Light & Seed: Quaker Spiritual Practice) by February 19.
