Capital Pride March June 10 and Festival, June 11! - Join Quaker contingent. Volunteers needed!
On Saturday, the area Quaker contingent will gather at FMW at 2:30.  Doors open, water and bathrooms available.  You can order tee shirts by emailing Jim Webner mtgcoord@sandyspring.org your size and preferred color (black, red, royal blue, navy, grey, charcoal, black).  Pay online at https://www.sandyspring.org/donate or bring Jim a check. He will bring your shirt to the march.
On Sunday, area Quakers will staff a booth at the Pride Festival from 1:00-6:00 pm.  It’s a fun way to support DC’s LGBTQ+ community.  You can sign up for the parade and/or to help staff the booth here. 

Work Day & American Chestnut planting at Quaker Camps June 10

BYM Webinar: “Reparations: Alchemical Agent for Healing and Repair” June 14, 7:00 pm ​In commemoration of Juneteenth, BYM's Growing Diverse Leadership Committee is sponsoring a lecture by Lucy Duncan and Rob Peagler, who will speak about the ways they have seen reparations work as a powerful force for transformation and tell stories about its power in transmuting intrapersonal, interpersonal and systemic dynamics, and as a tool for addressing the centuries old systemic harms of slavery. They will speak about the Quaker case for reparations to address the root level issues of our collective complicity, as a country and as Quakers. More info and register here.

Author's talk: Prisoners of Congress: Philadelphia Quakers in Exile, 1777-1778, Tues, June 20, 6:30 pm  www.americanrevolutioninstitute.org/events to register. FREE, but registration requested. In 1777, Congress labeled Pennsylvania's neutral Quakers who would not take up arms "the most dangerous enemies America knows." In Pennsylvania, 20 men–17 of them Quakers–were rounded up and forced into exile in Virginia, where they were held captive for a year.  Historian Norman Donaghue discusses his new book, focusing on the political war waged against the pacifist Quakers by the American government during the Revolution." BYM Annual Session, August 1-6:  Scholarships Available for FMW community to participate
Personal Aid Committee makes scholarships available to help cover costs of participating in BYM’s annual session for those who need assistance (especially Young Adult Friends and first time attenders).  Baltimore Yearly Meeting’s week-long annual session, held at Hood College July 31 - August 6, is filled with workshops, discernment and decision making, and opportunities to meet other Quakers from our area.
