It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.”  -Matthew 13:32

Honey!! - Freshly Harvested from FMW’s Green Roof Hives

On Sunday, June 6 FMW’s First Day School joined beekeeper team to harvest, extract and bottle over ## lbs of honey from the hives on FMW’s green roof.  The kids sold $146 on the spot.  50 bottles of various sizes are available through FMW’s Administrative Secretary.  Suggested donation: $10-$30 (in line with the going rate for hyper-local honey, about $1.25 an ounce.)  Available on Sunday during Fellowship in the Assembly Room.   Or contact BarbaraHBriggs@QuakersDC.org to make arrangements.

Dish Towel Mystery / Hospitality Request

In the over-a-year of pandemic shutdown, more than a few things have been moved or re-arranged.  FMW’s hard-working Hospitality Committee returned to the Meeting House kitschen to find NO DISH TOWELS.

If you (or someone you know) brought them home to launder….now would be a great time to bring them back!  If you (or someone you know) has spare dish towels you’d be willing to donate….FMW is in need!

Conversation on Activism & Contemplative Life, Monday, June 28, 7:00-8:30 pm via Zoom
Our Quaker experience includes contemplation and action. How do the two complement each other? How do Quaker communities nurture activism and lift up the journeys of those who participate in activism? Seven activist Friends will have a conversation about this. The conversationalists are Tronette Anochie, Barbara Briggs, Steve Chase, Rashid Darden, Zephyr Williams and Tom Yonker. Gene Throwe will facilitate the conversation.  Hosted by FMW’s Pastoral Care Working Group.  For more information contact  Sabrina McCarthy, sabrina.mccarthy@verizon.net, cell 240.778.5234.  Please register in advance here.
