War in Ukraine and the Quaker Peace Testimony, Quaker House, Sunday, May 15 at 12:30 pm

The Quaker Peace Testimony seeks justice and healing for all people; taking away the causes of war in the way we live. Are you being challenged by the Peace Testimony as it relates to the ongoing violence and war crimes devastating Ukraine?  For over three centuries, Friends have struggled to maintain non-violence in the face of many wars and other violence. Please join us for a Worship Sharing session on Sunday, May 15th to reflect on and speak about your own thoughts concerning what actions might help end this horrific war and suffering.   Please join us.  Jim Bell, kelleybell21@comcast.net, Joe Izzo, JIzzo4102@gmail.com

Help send a DC public school grad to college: Donate to Mary Jane Simpson Scholarship Fund

The goal for FMW is to fully fund an $8000 scholarship for one student. ($2000 over four years) FMW has already contributed $5000 towards this goal. We are asking you to fill in the gap of $3000.  Interesting fact: In 1981 we gave one $1000 scholarship. In 2021 we gave six $8000 scholarships.

In 18 DAYS (on June 1) we will decide how many scholarships we can give this year.

Here is what Aleisha H., a 2019 scholar at Villanova, says about her scholarship:

The Mary Jane Simpson scholarship is meaningful to me because it has helped to alleviate the financial burden of tuition on my mother. Especially with all the changes the pandemic has brought about, it has been relieving to have an area of certainty in my life. This scholarship helped provide that. I am so grateful to be a recipient of the Mary Jane Simpson Scholarship, as it has gone a long way towards helping me get my degree and being able to pursue my dream career.

Please give generously!  You will be part of shaping a young person’s future.
You can donate here.  Use the drop-down menu to select MJ Simpson Scholarships.
